Elden Ring Runes: 6 Best Farming Locations After Latest Patch

If you’ve spent any time in the Lands Between, you already know how crucial runes are. They fuel your level-ups, buy your gear, and let you snag key items from vendors. But after the latest patch, some popular farming spots have been nerfed—or even removed. Fortunately, there are still some high-yield areas that remain effective. Whether you're grinding to respec your build or simply want to stock up before facing a tough boss, these six rune farming spots will help you rake in levels efficiently.

1. Mohgwyn Palace – Albinauric Blood Pit

Still arguably the best spot in the game post-patch, the blood-filled area near the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance Site of Grace continues to be a rune jackpot. The Albinauric enemies here are tightly packed and vulnerable to AoE damage, making them ideal for quick, repeated kills. With a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot and the Golden Scarab talisman, players can easily net over 40,000 runes per run.

Pro tip: Use a ranged weapon or sorcery from above to avoid being swarmed. This is a solid alternative to buying cheap Elden Ring runes if you're playing solo and want to grind legit.

2. Windmill Village – Dancing Nobles

This spooky yet bizarrely cheerful location in Altus Plateau is home to a group of weak enemies that provide surprising rune returns. After the patch, the rune value has been slightly increased, and they’re still easy to take down in groups. Their slow reaction time makes this spot a great option for newer players or lower-level builds.

3. Haligtree – Elphael Inner Wall

For endgame players, Elphael is a high-risk, high-reward zone. The Cleanrot Knights and Haligtree Soldiers are no joke, but each kill gives a hefty number of runes. While this isn’t as fast as Mohgwyn, the yield per enemy is excellent. Plus, farming here gives you access to valuable Elden Ring items for sale from merchants that only appear after reaching the Haligtree.

4. Mountaintops of the Giants – Giants’ Gravepost

Just past the Zamor Ruins lies the Giants’ Gravepost, a reliable farming spot even after the update. The large fire giants are worth tons of runes and can be farmed efficiently with high-damage builds. This location is especially good for melee characters who want to farm without relying on magic or AoE spells.

Bonus: Combine this run with Golden Scarab and Fowl Foot items for maximum effect.

5. Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow – Lenne’s Rise

The ball trap that rolls off the cliff near Lenne’s Rise is still working, even after multiple patches. Simply aggro it and dodge at the right moment—it'll fall off the cliff and reward you with a chunk of runes. While not as lucrative as other methods, it’s risk-free and repeatable. Pair this with some cheap Elden Ring runes you’ve farmed elsewhere and you’ll be stocked up in no time.

6. Nokstella – Eternal City Soldiers

In this haunting underground city, the Silver Tear enemies and Nobles give out a decent amount of runes. The area remains unchanged in the latest patch, so it’s still a viable farming zone. It also drops some rare crafting materials and magic-based loot, which adds value to your runs.

Even after balance changes, there are still plenty of ways to build up your rune stash without resorting to exploits. Whether you’re running through Mohgwyn Palace for fast gains or challenging yourself in the Haligtree, the Lands Between still offers plenty of opportunities. If you prefer to skip the grind altogether, many players look for Elden Ring items for sale or consider stocking up on cheap Elden Ring runes, but for those who enjoy the process, these farming routes remain some of the most effective post-patch.
